Glasgow Church votes to acquire Red Lion Christian Academy
Reformed Presbyterian Church in Glasgow at the bear moves forward with plans to acquire the financially troubled Red Lion Christian Academy and the Institute of "sweeping reforms" after church members strongly support the plan Sunday.
Glasgow's majority-93 percent voted in favor of the acquisition of what is a significant hurdle for, say leaders. The 30-year-old school is nearly $ 6 million in debt, partly because of falling enrollment and recession controversy surrounding the football program.
"while some challenges remain, we sincerely hope that with our Red Lion family will be able to save the school," Rev. Chuck f. Betters, senior pastor, said in a statement after voting Sunday.
If the deal goes through, the school will see significant changes in leadership, values and financial operations, said his superiors. Christian education and academics would be a priority–football will not.
plead infringement of the regulation School Athletics State last year which include too much football, excessive practices and undue financial aid manages. Also controversial is the Red Lion push to build a team of nationally recognized powerhouse.
